The Banana Stand

River Yard

There's always money in the Banana Stand. This colony was a large swarm that was removed in late spring, 2021 from a beautiful brick home in West Olive. The colony had already begun building comb at the time they were removed but, unfortunately, it was not enough to be usable in their new home so they had to start again. This is always tough for a swarm since it requires a great deal of energy to produce the wax needed to build comb. Nevertheless, Banana Stand was persistent and managed to reach full strength by the end of summer with about 20 pounds of excess honey to spare.
In 2022, Banana Stand had the advantage of being an established hive. Even though it was a generally slower year for all our hives, they managed to produce just under 50 pounds of excess honey.
